Aerosols99 Leg1 Regions

We defined 5 different regions along the cruise track based on trajectories, gas and aerosol chemistry, and aerosol number size distributions as follows:

• NH background marine, DOY 17.5 - 23  31N to 15.5N
• Dust from Africa, DOY 23 - 27, 15.5N to 3N
• Biomass burning from northern Africa, DOY 25 - 29.8, 8N to 5S
• note there is an overlap from DOY25 to DOY27 where we sampled both dust and biomass burning aerosols
• SH Background Period 1 DOY 29.8-DOY36, 5S to 24.5S
• SH Background Period 2 DOY 36-39, 24.5S to 33S
• Period 1 is in the tropics, the trajectories for Period 2 are more  southwesterly
