AVHRR
From the OPS Center
The low pressure system south of Japan will strengthen as it moves toward
the
ENE. Once again the forecast model results differ
significantly, and I rely primarily on the NOGAPS solution. By 0000
UTC on March
26 the storm is expected to be at 34 N, 140 E,
intensified to 988 hPa surface pressure. A large precipitation shield
will
extend primarily E and NE of the storm (well away from our areas).
Sea state forecasts indicate that there will be a gradual
degradation of conditions along the track of the R/V Ron Brown, with
seas
possibly exceeding 12 feet by 0000 UTC on the 26th. The
surface low which passed earlier will intensify further as it moves
east of 175
E.
