Frank ST meeting 0719 Saturday Meteo Outlook DAY N+1, N+2: Upper levels: Similar patterns to today; the ridge tends to move slightly to the E as a trough builds-up between Azores and Canaries for N+2. Winds from the N and NW. Low levels: similar to today for N+1; for N+2 the anticyclone becomes weaker over the Iberian Peninsula as a secondary low begins to build-up. Winds from NE and N at 15-20kts. MBL steady for N+1, around 900-1000m, but it could start deepening by the end of N+2. Clear skies over Sagres, Gulf of Cadiz and N ACE2 area increasing to scattered/broken to the S, with Cu and Sc and becoming broken/overcast with Sc around Madeira and S to the Canaries. Clouds bases around 600-700 m probably rising slightly by the end of N+2. Still some anthropogenic air over Tenerife in the MBL becoming clean on N+2 both in the MBL and FT. Anthropogenic air over Sagres in the MBL and FT. A new outbreak of polluted MBL air is expected to be advected from W Europe and the British Isles to the N of ACE2 area during N+1 crossing 38N during N+2 and reaching the Canary Islands during N+4. DAY N+3, N+4: Upper Levels: Cold low W of the Iberian Peninsula, stationary, bringing instability to the N ACE2 area and W Iberian Peninsula. Winds from the SW, moderate to strong. Rising air over central and W ACE2 area, subsidence to the E. Low levels: The high presure area extending from SW Azores to the British Isles tends to move N as a secondary low builds-up over the Iberian Penisula. Thermal low over N Africa. Instability over the W Iberian Peninsula where some showers and thunderstorms are possible over Sagres and NW ACE2 area. Scattered/broken with Cu and Sc over Sagres and Portuguese Coast. Scattered over the E ACE2 area increasing to broken layers of Cu and Sc over the W and S, including Canaries, almost overcast over Madeira and NW ACE2 area. Light rain is possible to N of Tenerife. Winds from the N-NW average 10kts. Some dust could be adevected into the NE of ACE area in low levels from the Mediterranean and N Africa. S of Canary Islands we can expect some dust around 3000 m which could move over the Islands by N+4. Anthropogenic air from Northern Europe expected in the MBL over central and N ACE2 area, reaching Canaries N+4. The MBL-top will rise, as well as cloud bases and tops, as the trough betwen Canaries and Azores deepens. Operations Today Saturday 1.
