Meteo Outlook

DAY N+1 N+2:
Upper levels: Ridge line from Azores to Iceland, building up and moving
slowly E, bringing subsidence over N and E of ACE2 area. Cold low over
the British Isles. Weak trough from NE Iberian Peninsula to the Canary
Islands, this will keep the inversion slightly high over the islands.
Clean air over the whole area. Low levels: Anticyclone extending from
Iceland down to W of Azores steady. Low over SE France building up.
Thermal low over N Africa. Winds from N to NE at 10-15 Kts.
Anthropogenic air over Sagres and N of ACE2 area will start moving S
giving anthropogenic air over Tenerife for N+2.  We can expect dust
laden air around 2000 m to SE of the Canary Islands, but this will
probably not reach the Islands. Scattered skies along the coast of
Portugal, Cadiz Gulf and N of the E coast of Morocco with Cu and Sc. 
Scattered to broken Cu and Sc over the rest of the area, increasing to
broken to overcast layers of Sc over Madeira and N Canary Islands. MBL
will remain qite high, around 1300 m. over the Canary Islands.
DAY N+3, N+4:
Upper levels: Ridge W of British Isles, quite narrow due to two cold
lows, one over central Europe and the other W of Iceland. Very weak
trough over the Canary Islands. Subsidence over the ACE2 area.
Low levels: Anticyclone spreading from N Scandinavia to W of the Azores,
reinforcing and moving N for N+4. This will favour the advection of
anthropogenic air from Europe into the ACE2 area. Subsidence is expected
over the whole ACE2 area. MBL-depth will tend to decrease as well as
cloud bases and thickness. Clear skies over Sagres increasing to
scattered to broken layers of Cu and Sc over Madeira and Canary Islands.
Anthropogenic air is expected for both days over Sagres and the rest of
the ACE2 area. Winds from the N-NE at 15-20 kts.

1. CLOUDYCOL. in polluted air with C130, Pelican, Merlin and Dornier.
2. Full LAG in polluted air starting with balloon release by ship at
20Z, 40 N 11 W.
3. HillCloud anticipated for tonight. 

Thurs.
4. Meeting at 08 Z. to consider progress of LAG.
5. LAG to continue with flight schedule planned at morning meeting.
6. Ship to head for Sagres for CLEAR COL on Fri.
7. Pelican to carry out measurements in dust layer along African Coast,
take off 12 Z.

Fri.
8. LAG continues.

General 
Presentation of Pel. data from 8 Jul, showing results from Clear Col in
dust layer.
No report from Sagres or Ship(Inmarsat problem) available for ST
meeting.   Ship report arrived after ST meeting. "1742 ship at 39deg
39', 10 deg 48' and ready to start LAG in polluted
continental air". Euro. pollution expected to continue during next
week.
