As you'll see from the St report we still want to do a lot, and the conditions seem promising (although we've become less critical about conditions).The maximum program for the ship would be: - release balloons/tracer between 2100Z 2400Z Wed. - steam to Sagres again for CLEARCOLUMN/LAGRANGIAN on Sat/Sun - back on 40 N for another release on Mon/Tue at 40 N Is that feasible? Winds NW to N in N of ACE2 area and SW in S of area. Subsiding air over the whole area. Low levels: High E of Azores, extending to NE and weakening. Thermal low over N Africa, another one over Iberian Peninsula filling. Winds from N to NE about 15 Kts over S of ACE2 area increasing, over N of area and weakening around Portugese coast and Cadiz Gulf. Scattered to broken with Cumuli and Stratocumuli all over ACE2 area, tending to clear to scattered along Portugese coast, Cadiz Gulf and North part of East coast of Morocco. MBL decreasing slightly over the whole area, cloud base and thicknesses decrease. Possible rain in N Tenerife. Thermal low over North Africa. Winds from N to NE 15 Kts increasing in the N of the ACE2 area and weakening in E. Winds will blow from Mediterranean and Iberian Peninsula over E of the ACE2 area giving clear to scattered skies along E boundaries of ACE2 area. Scattered to broken Cumuli and Stratocumuli over the rest of the area. DAY N+3, N+4: Both days. Upper levels: The trough over the Atlantic will move slightly E. The trough over Canaries will move NE. Winds from N to NE over the N of the ACE2 area and from SW over the S part. Low levels: The high pressure area over The Atlantic, builds up and extends along the N Spanish coast. Winds from mediterranean and Portugal, over E of area, leaving clear skies along Portugese coast, Cadiz Gulf and North Morocco. Following options exist: a- CLOUDYCOLUMN with C130 and Pelican N of Tenerife b- full (non clean) LAGRANGIAN C130 flight starting 2100Z c- CLEARCOLUMN over Sagres with C130 (only in case there is no start of b-) Satellite pictures and ST meeting at 0745Z will decide. Remaining days More European pollution is expected to advect into the ACE-2 area next week. Another LAGRANGIAN could start Mon/Tue.
