Frank ST meeting 0714 Monday (FNH) Meteo outlook DAY N+1: Upper levels. Cold low just SW of Sagres, moving slowly to the north and creating instability over the Iberian Peninsula and Gulf of Cadiz. Sinking air over Madiera and W ACE2 area, rising air over the E ACE2 area and Sagres. Low levels: The high over the Azores tends to weaken as it spreads from the Azores to the British Isles. Thermal low over N Africa with a secondary low over the Gulf of Cadiz. Winds turn at all levels counterclockwise around the low just S of Sagres. N to NE winds around 15 kts over Madeira and Canaries. Abundant cloudiness, with some showers and possible thunderstorms SW and over the Iberian Peninsula, including Sagres. Over the remainder of the area, scattered to broken cumulus and stratocumulus with some possibility of rain N of Tenerife. Clean air everywhere except for Sagres and NE ACE2 area. Dust outbreak from the Mediterranean can be expected in this area too. DAY N+2: The low aloft will fill and move to the NE. Low levels: the high tends to weaken and extend from Azores to the British Isles. Instability will decrease over Sagres and SW Iberian Peninsula. Anthropogenic air is expected over Sagres and NE of ACE2 area in low levels. Dust can be expected in low and medium levels in this area too, as well as S of the Canaries around 3000 m. MBL depth will tend to decrease slowly over S ACE2 area and quickly over Sagres and N ACE2 area. DAY N+3, N+4: Upper levels: The low fills as it moves north. Ridge-line over the British Isles building up. Subsidence over the ACE2 area. Low levels: Area of high pressure spreading from the West of Azores to the British Isles. Subsidence is expected over the whole ACE2 area. MBL-depth will decrease as well as cloud bases and thickness. Clear skies over Sagres increasing to scattered to broken layers of Cu and Sc over Madeira and Canaries. Anthropogenic-dusty air is expected for both days over Sagres area and NE of ACE2 area Some dust also expected to S of ACE2 area and Canaries at around 3000 m. Winds from the NE at about 15 kt.
