Meteo outlook

DAYS N+1 & N+2 : Upper levels: Trough line over Azores moving slowly to
the east, increasing instability over Sagres and the north of ACE-2 area
for the next days. Low levels: 1028 mb anticyclone spreading 
from Azores to the British Isles, almost stationary. Winds from
northeast over the whole area at about 8-10kt in the east increasing to
15kt to the west of the area. Clear sky over Sagres and the east of the 
area increasing cloudiness to the west and south of the area. Broken
layers of stratocumulus over Madeira and Canary Islands. MBL increasing
in the NW of the area and stationary for the rest. Polluted air is 
expected in the MBL over Sagres and the northeast of the ACE-2 area.
Some dust can be expected east and northeast of theCanary Islands.
DAYS N+3 & N+4 : Upper Levels: Trough line moving over the Iberian
Peninsula expected N+4 over the Mediterranean. Light westerly flow behind
the trough over the ACE-2 area. Clean air will be advected over
the area, mainly subsident for N+4. Low levels: 1028 mb Anticyclone over
Azores moving slightly to the west with a secondary center of 1024 over
the British Islands tending to split and move to the EN. 
Thermal low with 1008 mb over Morocco. Scattered layers of cumulus over
the east and north of the area, increasing to the west to broken layers
of stratocumulus over Madeira and Canary Islands. Winds from the
north at about 14-18kt. MBL increasing slightly N+3 and decreasing N+4.

1. CLEARCOLUMN with ARAT over Sagres, and over ship and Sagres during
ARAT evening flight.
2. Clear LAGRANGIAN not successful because of faulty balloon transmitter
and changing meteo

Monday
3. Ship to move towards 31N00' along 11W00'. Use of 0800Z AVHRR AOD
picture for positioning
ship for  CLEARCOLUMN with Pelican, in European pollution
4. Possible CLOUDYCOLUMN near Marocan coast with Merlin/Dornier/ARAT
5. ARAT to fly a cross section Casablanca - Madeira accross the two
branches of the European outflow

Tuesday
5. Position ship in NW branch of European outflow, for possible start of
LAGRANGIAN with Pelican.
6. Possible ClOUDYCOLUMN near Madeira.

General
- intercomparison of soundings of S/C, PDH and aircraft upwind Tenerife
required.
